About

My name is Dion Detterer, and I’m a geek.

No, I haven’t been sober for three years. I recently had a relapse: I bought Tron on Blu-ray.

My addiction began in 1982, when I saw a re-release of Star Wars. My parents only encouraged me, taking me to see Ghostbusters, Gremlins and Back to the Future. Then I moved onto the harder stuff: Star Trek, Dune, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and Babylon 5. The Evil Dead movies, Futurama, Tolkien, Asimov…

Han meets the family

God help me, I bought the entire original series of He-Man on DVD…

When I’m not freebasing Superman or doing a line of Clone Wars, I’m just a mild mannered computer science research student. None of my peers know my secret life, watching The Star Wars Holiday Special while singing along to Bea Arthur’s song. I hate myself for it, but I can’t stop.

This blog is my attempt to exorcise these demons.

Actually… Screw it, I’m having too much fun. So, get in your cosplay gear, wave a lightsaber, exclaim “Autobots, roll out!” and read along.

You’ll find me on Twitter @DionDetterer and on Tumblr as well.

Live long and may the Force be with you, by the power of Greyskull!
